Property Commission

Purpose The Property Commission exists to assist the Vestry in maintaining the parish buildings, furnishings, and grounds.  It does this by providing timely repairs, preventive maintenance, and future vision.
Mission Statement It is the mission of the Property Commission to help the parish to provide and maintain a safe, welcoming, efficient environment which will encourage growth for the church and security for the rector, the rector's family, the staff, and all our members.

2007 Annual Property Report

Purpose

            The property commission exists to assist the Vestry in maintaining the parish buildings, furnishings and grounds. It does this by providing timely repairs, preventive maintenance and future vision.

While there are many routine maintenance chores being done on a daily basis, this is a summary of the larger, sometimes unexpected tasks that needed to be taken care of: January
  • Sackett Hall Sexton’s utility closet cleaned /organized
  • Ladies room (office area) toilet seal changed (leaking)
  • Pews dusted/vacuumed
 February
  • New table storage rack purchased by FFF
  • Purchased/installed new paper towel dispensers, trash receptacles and new   weather rugs for entrance areas
  March 
  • New lock sets installed on Rector’s and Administrative doors
  • Restored emergency exit lighting systems
  • Replaced inoperative light bulbs in the Nave; dusted hanging lanterns and chains
  • Repaired dishwasher in Church kitchen 
 April  
  • Purchased/installed wireless lavaliere microphone system
  • Utility room in Narthex cleaned/organized
  • Spring Clean – Up Church and Rectory grounds
  • Noah Corridor ceiling sprayed with bleach/water solution to eliminate mold
  • Lockbox installed at rear entrance for random users
  • Mass. Electric raised low hanging wires across rear yard and straightened utility pole
  • Organized/declutter property locker in Stevens Hall
  • Organized/declutter AA locker in Stevens Hall
 May
  • Tuned mowers/sharpened blades
  • Rekey Church and distributed new keys
  • Spread fertilizer, weed killer, bug killer
 June
  • Replaced broken pre-school window
  • Prepped/painted one bedroom at Rectory (35 man hours)
  • Met with contractor – planned repairs to 3 Rectory bathrooms
  • Cleared/cleaned Church roof
  • Accurate Termite and Pest Control sprayed for ants, at Rectory and Church, rebaited termite traps
 July
  • Began replacement of deteriorated railing at rear Church entrance
  • Landscape Committee formed (Ginny Ziobro, Joyce Lewis, Nancy and Dave Truesdale, Ginnie Kasten and Jessica Lister). Bids solicited from Sixteen Acres and Graziano Gardens for improving appearance of Church grounds. Plans are posted in the Narthex above bookcases.
 August
  • Rectory bathrooms completed by contractor
  • 2nd  bedroom painted at Rectory by professional painter
  • Sackett Hall, rear entrance, Noah corridor walls repaired, prepped and painted by professional painter
  • Floors in Sackett and Stevens Halls, Noah corridor and Narthex stripped and waxed by Sexton
  • Trimming, pruning and clearing Church grounds
 September
  • Gallerani Electric coordinated with engineers from National Grid and Dig Safe to correct electrical wire safety hazard at rear of Church building. After the ground thaws, the lines will be buried.
 October
  • Hill between the upper and lower parking lots cleared by Will Surdyka for his Eagle Scout project (3 weekends)
  • New railing finished at rear entrance (90 man hours)
  • Stones delivered and spread to create 18-24” border around sides and rear of Church (additional decorative stones will be spread in front of Church in the Spring)
  • Cleared broken fencing at Church driveway and replaced deteriorated fence at sidewalk.
 November
  • Heating system in Church surveyed by electrician-instrumentation specialist and engineer to make sense of the control wiring. Plan is to eliminate old, nonfunctioning wires, repair nonfunctioning heaters; possibly install digital thermostat to better control on/off cycle to reduce exorbitant heat costs for the Nave.
  • Fall Clean-Up Church/Rectory grounds
  • Furnace at Rectory cleaned and serviced
 December
  • General maintenance and preparations for Christmas
  • Furnaces at Church cleaned and serviced
   Landscape diagram: Note areas designated A,B,D, and E The vision of the Landscape Committee is a clean, uncluttered, eye-pleasing and welcoming border around our Church that will not require a lot of maintenance. Each area would need about 4 “gardening angels” to watch over them and help maintain them throughout the spring, summer and fall. (Area C is the Columbarium Garden )
