Outreach Opportunites

ACTS
Contact: Steve Lewis

ACTS (Action Centered Tutoring Services) is an ecumenical Christian-based tutoring program that confronts illiteracy by providing one-on-one tutoring after school. This program helps Springfield area students learn and grow in a loving, caring, Christian environment. Students meet their tutors at one of three sites: Faith United Church, St. Peter's Church, and Save Our Kids Youth Center.

Alleluia Fund
Contact:  Teri Tousignant

The Alleluia Fund provides monies for mission projects such as Habitat For Humanity, Bement Camp, discipleship groups, and the mission church in Southwick, Massachusetts.

Angel Tree
Contact: Jody Shea

Prison Fellowship Ministries reaches out the families of inmates by providing gifts to the children and follow-up contact with each family. During Advent, parishioners choose a child's name from our Angel Tree.  They then purchase and wrap a gift. A team of Epiphany volunteers delivers the gifts to the families.

Citizen Advocacy
Contact: Len Surdyka

This organization initiates and supports the establishment of personal relationships between stable and caring citizens with people who have a wide range of mental health problems. These citizens serve as advocates and partners with a mission to enhance the rights and opportunities of persons with whom they've been matched.

Food, Friends, & Fun
Contact: Chill Hill

The goal of this federal program is to remove the risk of hunger for children in the summertime. Over 70% of Springfield's children qualify for food assistance within their schools during the academic year. Food, Friends, & Fun serves lunches and snacks at several Springfield playgrounds.

Open Pantry
Contact: Tom Shea

The Open Pantry provides broad and comprehensive services to the poor, the hungry and homeless. They provide emergency groceries, shelter, a soup kitchen, holiday meals, an adult day center, and advocacy services. The Open Pantry Walk is held in May to raise funds for the many services this organization provides.

Loaves & Fishes
Contact: Alice Montgomery

Epiphany parishioners provide dinner at the Loaves & Fishes kitchen on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Parishioners are encouraged to provide casseroles, salad, dessert and milkand to bring them to the church by 3:00pm for transport to the Cathedral.

Survival Center
Contact: Norm Rauscher

Located in Indian Orchard, the Survival Center provides emergency food, clothing, and household goods to the working poor and others in Ludlow, Indian Orchard, Sixteen Acres, Hampden, and Wilbraham.  The Center runs a number of food and clothing drives throughout the year.  Epiphany parishioners donate food items to the baskets located at the back of the Nave.
