What Makes Us Unique?
Our Program Philosophy
- Integration of Christian faith elements into the curriculum (that are not found
in any public preschool and very rarely found in privately owned preschool settings).
- Epiphany Preschool has accreditation by the National Association for the Education
of Young Children (NAEYC)-(a distinction difficult to achieve because of its rigorous
requirements relating to curriculum and teacher qualification).
- We parallel very closely the Hampden-Wilbraham regional school district (HWRSD)
calendar (we are open on HWRSD teacher in-service days and a full month later
than most other preschools).
- We offer early hour attendance (8:00 am to 9:00 am) and are open until 4:00 p.m.
(MWF), in an attempt to offer working parents more flexibility (not typically
encountered other than in larger day-care type facilities).
- We offer financial assistance via scholarships to 2 to 3 families every year.
In 2004-2005, five families took advantage of these need-based scholarships.
We also work with the Community Partnership for dual working parents and accept
transitional assistance vouchers.
- Very competitive rates, particularly considering our longer hours of operation.
- Finally, a teacher to student ratio of roughly 1 to 6.5 (three teachers to a
class size of 20 maximum), a teaching staff with over 60 years of combined preschool
teaching experience, and student interns.
Epiphany Preschool sponsors many events for students including: open houses,
alumni reunions, music education, beach-day celebrations, pancake and PJ day breakfasts
before Lent, Easter and Christmas celebrations, apple and pumpkin picking, visits
to local nursing homes, pizza making, visits from local civic groups, fire and
police departments, entertainers, musicians, artists, parishioners, clergy, parents
who share aspects of their religion or cultural heritage, nutritionists, dentists
and other professionals who screen for speech, hearing and vision difficulties.
