Our Curriculum & Faith Components
The Epiphany Preschool's intent is to provide a curriculum that fosters growth
in the five major areas of a child's development (social, emotional, physical,
language, and cognitive) within the context of a loving and accepting Christian
community.
All children are stimulated, guided, and encouraged in carefully planned activities
that allow each child to develop at their own rate. Through whole group, small
group and individualized activities, children are given the opportunity to play,
explore, socialize, create, question, and experiment in order to make sense of
the world around them and to develop their own sense of independence, self-confidence,
and responsibility. Many activities are offered in learning centers arranged
around the classroom. These centers include dramatic play, science/exploration,
literacy, blocks, music, art, and manipulative games. Believing that children
learn best when activities and ideas are interconnected, the curriculum and centers
are designed around weekly and monthly themes. The centers are changed accordingly
to offer new and stimulating activities to expand upon themes and related experiences.
Multicultural and non-stereotyping materials are provided to build understanding,
self-identity, and self-esteem. Multicultural experiences include the exploration
of a variety of foods, music, families, and homes.
The Epiphany Preschool promotes a Christian environment with an emphasis on meeting
the spiritual needs of each child. Children will learn special mealtime prayers
and participate in study and celebration of the events of the Christian calendar. Through these activities and staff role models, the children learn how to treat
each other with kindness, concern, and empathy.
