Jennings Scholarship

The Jennings Scholarship is awarded each year to a student of music in the Hamden-Wilbraham School District.  The scholarship was created to honor Melissa Jennings, a 12 year old child who was killed in an automobile accident following Summer Bible School at Epiphany in August 1985.  Melissa was a very talented and musical student at the Wilbraham Middle School.  Her mother, Liz, was the organist and music director at the Epiphany and her dad, Richard, was a psychiatrist at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield.  She also had a younger brother, Angus, who was injured in the accident but made a full physical recovery.

The Melissa Jennings Scholarship Fund was established at Epiphany in memory of Melissa to be used each year for a student at the Middle School with high achievement in music.  We have been awarding this scholarship each year since its inception.  This year, we honored Melissa’s memory by awarding the scholarship to Lea K. pictured with  her mother, the director of music, and Donna Fountain. Congratulations!
